The Career of Vic Mignogna
Early Life and Career
Vic grew up in southwestern Pennsylvania. In a preview of his future career, he did some stage and screen acting as a child, with his first credits coming when he was just 8 or 9 years old. Though he set this work aside to focus on his studies in high school and college, he never lost his passion for performance.
Vic graduated from Liberty University in the mid-1980s with a degree in film and television production. He spent his early career as a teacher, including his first year out of college as a speech and English instructor in Jacksonville, Florida. He also worked as a police officer with the Ocean City (Maryland) Police Department.
Vic began producing music in the early 1980s, with notable early production credits including Nashville-based Christian hip-hop outfit DC Talk’s first album (1989) and his own debut album, If These Walls Could Talk (1992). In 1993, he sang “Worth Waiting For” as a contestant on Ed McMahon’s Star Search.
In 1990, Vic moved to Houston to continue his teaching career at the Art Institute of Houston, where he taught film and video production. When he wasn’t in the classroom, he worked as a producer for several animated films and television shows. This work brought Vic into contact with several voice actors in the area, and he had the privilege of working at several noted dubbing and animation studios in Houston and Dallas throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.
